Home!

Well, I've been home for about a day and a half now. You may have been wondering what's been going on since I haven't updated in a while, and the reason for that was that we were crazy busy! Last Sunday night was when we finally got all of the details completely nailed down, giving us just 48 hours to get everything done for our presentation to the leadership committee of YWAM Harpenden. As the Student Art Director, I was up for several late nights making sure everything got done in time. If you know how much I am NOT a night person, you know that this was a hard experience for me :)

We have completely re-designed the reception area/visitor center at YWAM. In the beginning of this project, I really didn't see the significance of this project and honestly I thought it was kind of a waste of time. However, the longer we lived on the campus, the more I saw the unique opportunity that this campus has to reach out to their community. This campus has some gorgeous trails that people from the town come and walk their dogs on every day. They also have a café inside the visitor's center that people from the campus as well as the community come to very often. With this many visitors around all the time, YWAM has the chance to get many different kinds of people involved in their ministry. However, this opportunity was not being taken advantage of with their current visitor area. While the café is very warm and inviting, the welcome area was very white and plain, and no one spent any time looking at the single display on the wall. In order to get the community interested and involved in YWAM's ministry, we worked to make the visitor space just as warm and inviting as the café and created several displays that explain the history and ministry of YWAM, the work of their mercy ship, the Next Wave, as well as explain their current monetary needs for renovations.

When we presented our proposal to the leadership, they were really excited about how this project will grow their ministry and really get the many people from the community involved. This was a project they had been wanting to do for some time but just didn't have the time to do. Our team feels very thankful that we were able to bless YWAM in this way.

Thank you so much for all of your support and encouragement that made it possible for me to be a part of this project!

Below are just some of the images from our proposal for the new visitor's space. YWAM will be implementing our proposal very soon and I will share any pictures they send our way as they begin the actual work.
